Gay Men & Aging:
A Therapy Group For Gay Men 40+

Pride can be joyful—but for gay men, it can also bring up painful questions about aging, desirability, and visibility.

A virtual therapy group for gay men who are navigating the challenges of aging in a youth-obsessed culture.

Aging can bring up complicated feelings—about body image, desirability, identity, loss, and what really matters.

During Pride Month, those feelings can hit even harder. Pride is meant to celebrate us, but it often glorifies youth and idealized bodies, leaving many gay men over 40 feeling invisible.

This group offers space to unpack those feelings and build a more flexible, compassionate relationship with yourself as you age.

Who It’s For

This group is for gay men aged 40 and older who are:

  • Feeling the emotional impact of aging in a culture that prioritizes youth and appearance

  • Struggling with shifting values, purpose, or self-worth

  • Wanting a space that offers both support and structure

  • Living anywhere in California (since therapy is offered via telehealth)

What to Expect

The group combines evidence-based skills from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) with space for real conversation and reflection.

Each 75-minute session may include check-ins, structured exercises, guided discussion, and group sharing.

Over the course of 8 weeks, you’ll learn tools to:

  • Respond more flexibly to self-critical thoughts and painful emotions

  • Reconnect with your values

  • Make more intentional, meaningful choices

  • Relate to your aging body with more clarity and care

  • Feel less alone in what you’re going through
